Questions
What is a DP operator competence assessment?
A practical assessment on board of a DP operator’s knowledge, watchkeeping and response to alarms and failures, against the company’s standards and industry guidance.
Who carries out the assessment?
Capt. Gints Adams: DP operator since 2011, former DP instructor and assessor at a maritime training centre, STCW Reg. I/6 assessor with the Latvian Maritime Administration and onboard assessor with the Norwegian Maritime Authority.
Can it be done while the ship is working?
Yes. We assess during normal operations and drills, so the crew is seen doing the real job.
Is training on board or ashore?
Both. Training can be given on board during a voyage or port stay, or ashore for a group.
How much does it cost?
We quote per request, based on the number of people, the vessel, the location and the dates. Send the details below and we reply within one working day.
